Attorney General Neronha announced that a Rhode Island court has granted a preliminary injunction aimed at halting the dismantling of three federal agencies. These agencies provide essential services and funding to public libraries, museums, workers, and small businesses across the nation.
Neronha stated, "Today’s preliminary injunction is a critical win for the public interest." He expressed concern over what he described as efforts by the Trump Administration to limit access to opportunities that help individuals reach their potential through free access to knowledge, labor rights protection, and support for small business growth.
The lawsuit was co-led by Attorney General Letitia James of New York and Attorney General Anne Lopez of Hawaii. Attorneys general from Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin joined in this legal action.
Neronha highlighted his commitment to taking decisive action against what he perceives as unlawful federal actions. "We’ve won many times before; we won today; and we will win in the future," he asserted.
