Attorney General Steve Marshall has announced the conviction of Dustin Van Faulkner, a 36-year-old resident of Gardendale, Jefferson County, on charges related to child pornography. Faulkner pleaded guilty in Jefferson County Court to one count of dissemination of obscene matter depicting a person under the age of 17.

"Child exploitation has no place in our society and inflicts unimaginable pain and suffering upon the most vulnerable among us," Attorney General Marshall stated. "My office will continue to work with law enforcement across the state to identify, target, and prosecute these predators to the fullest extent of the law."

Faulkner received a five-year sentence to be served in the Alabama Department of Corrections. Upon his release, he must register as a sex offender immediately and comply with all requirements under Alabama’s Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

Attorney General Marshall praised his Criminal Trials Division for their successful prosecution of this case, highlighting Assistant Attorney General Chenelle Smith's contributions. He also acknowledged the efforts of the Cyber Crime Unit within the Attorney General’s Investigations Division.
