Elder Abuse Awareness Day was recognized in Kansas on June 14. The day was marked with a proclamation signing by Governor Laura Kelly, which was attended by Medicaid Inspector General Steve Anderson and Tina Robinson, the Multidisciplinary Team Coordinator for Economic Crimes.

Events were organized by the Office of the Kansas Attorney General in collaboration with APS, KHCA, Aetna, and Leading Age. Over 80 professionals, including social workers, law enforcement, nurses, banking professionals, and nursing home representatives, gathered to discuss strategies to combat elder abuse. The day focused on educating attendees on how to protect elderly citizens. Inspector General Anderson, who served on the steering committee, spoke on a panel and presented information and answered questions regarding K.S.A. 21-5417, Mistreatment of a Dependent Adult.
