Judicial nominating commission announces application deadline for county judge vacancy

The Judicial Nominating Commission for County Judge in the 10th Judicial District will hold a public hearing on October 17, 2024, at the Adams County Courthouse in Hastings, Nebraska. The commission will gather information on candidates to fill the vacancy left by Judge Timothy Hoeft’s appointment to the district court.

Supreme Court Justice William B. Cassel announced that interested individuals can obtain a Judicial Vacancy Application package from the Nebraska Judicial Branch website. Completed applications must be submitted electronically or by hard copy no later than 3:00 p.m. on September 26, 2024.

Applicants are advised to verify timely receipt of their submissions as the deadline cannot be extended due to email transmission failures. Additionally, they should include email addresses for all persons identified in questions 25, 26, and 27 of the Personal Data Sheet.

Members of the public wishing to present testimony may do so according to instructions provided on the Nebraska Judicial Branch website. Special accommodations related to the Americans with Disabilities Act can be arranged by calling (402) 471-3730 or using the Nebraska Relay System at 7-1-1.

The judicial power of Nebraska is distributed among several courts including the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, district courts, and county courts. All state courts operate under the administrative direction of the Supreme Court.
