The North Central Problem-Solving Court will host a graduation ceremony on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. in the Custer County Courtroom located at 604 Heritage Drive, Broken Bow, NE 68822. Judge Tami Schendt will preside over the event.

This ceremony marks the completion of an intensive program for problem-solving court graduates. The program includes comprehensive behavioral health treatment, intensive community supervision, and full accountability measures. Problem-solving courts offer an alternative path through the criminal justice system for nonviolent drug-related offenders by employing a specialized team process within the existing court structure.

The primary objectives of these courts are to reduce recidivism and substance use among individuals with substance use disorders while protecting public safety. The courts aim to increase participants' chances of successful rehabilitation through validated risk and need assessments, early and individualized behavioral health treatment, frequent and random chemical testing, incentives, sanctions, and other rehabilitative services.

For interviews or additional information about the event, contact Doug Stanton, North Central Problem-Solving Court Coordinator at 402-340-3461. Media credentials are preferred for coverage of this Adult Drug Court graduation. Further details can be found on the Problem-Solving Court webpage: https://supremecourt.nebraska.gov/courts/problem-solving-courts.

The Nebraska judicial system is structured under the administrative direction of the Supreme Court and includes several levels of courts as outlined by the Constitution of the State of Nebraska.
