The Southeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court will hold a graduation and celebration ceremony on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Saline County District Courtroom located at 204 South High Street in Wilber, NE. Judge Richard Smith will preside over the ceremony.

This graduation marks the completion of an intensive program for problem-solving court graduates. The program includes comprehensive behavioral health treatment, intensive community supervision, and full accountability. Problem-solving courts offer an alternative route through the criminal justice system for nonviolent drug-related offenders by utilizing a specialized team process within the existing court structure.

The courts aim to reduce recidivism and substance use among individuals with substance use disorders while protecting public safety and increasing participants' chances of successful rehabilitation. This is achieved through validated risk and need assessments, early and individualized behavioral health treatment, frequent and random chemical testing, incentives, sanctions, and other rehabilitative services.

For interviews or additional information about the graduation ceremony, please contact Chris Reece, Adult Drug Court Coordinator, at 402-821-7114. More information can also be found on the Problem-Solving Court webpage: https://supremecourt.nebraska.gov/courts/problem-solving-courts

Media credentials are preferred for attendance.

The judicial power in Nebraska is distributed among several courts including the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, district courts, and county courts. All state courts operate under the administrative direction of the Supreme Court. Additionally, Nebraska's judicial system includes separate juvenile courts in Douglas, Lancaster, and Sarpy Counties as well as a statewide Workers’ Compensation Court.
