TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Attorney General Ashley Moody addressed the Florida Tax Collectors Association Annual Conference in Orlando, urging vigilance in identifying and reporting voter fraud. Tax collector offices, where Floridians frequently interact with government services, play a significant role beyond tax collection. These offices provide vehicle tags, hunting licenses, driver’s licenses, and facilitate voter registration.

With the 2024 presidential election approaching, Attorney General Moody encouraged tax collectors to display information on reporting voter registration crimes to Florida’s Voter Fraud Hotline: 1(877) 868-3737.

“For many Floridians, tax collectors are the face of the government. Tax collectors help them obtain their first driver’s license and can even help them register to vote. Florida has taken great steps to ensure the integrity of our elections. Today, I encouraged tax collectors to help us keep Florida elections secure by posting information about Florida’s Voter Fraud Hotline—so Floridians know how and where to report suspicious activity,” said Attorney General Ashley Moody.

In 2022, Governor Ron DeSantis established the Florida Department of State’s Office of Election Crimes and Security (OECS) to investigate irregularities or fraud related to voter registration, voting, candidate or issue petition activities, or other violations of Florida’s Election Code. OECS has reviewed over 3,000 complaints and initiated more than 1,300 independent investigations.

Floridians who witness potential election fraud can report it via the Voter Fraud Hotline at 1(877) 868-3737 or by filling out an Elections Fraud Complaint online.

At today's conference, Attorney General Moody asked tax collectors to post OECS information in their offices statewide so that residents know how to report illegal voter registration activities. This request aligns with her broader efforts to encourage elected leaders to provide public safety messages aimed at preventing consumer fraud.
