The Office of Information Policy (OIP) has announced new dates for FOIA training sessions for the first half of Fiscal Year 2025. As part of its mandate to promote agency compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), OIP offers various training opportunities throughout the year aimed at agency FOIA professionals and individuals with FOIA responsibilities.
These courses cater to personnel at all levels of the FOIA workforce, from new hires to seasoned professionals and managers. The training will continue to be offered virtually in real-time by OIP instructors. Additional training opportunities for the spring and summer will be announced later.
For Fiscal Year 2025, the scheduled courses and their dates are as follows:

- Virtual Chief FOIA Officer Report Refresher Training: October 16, 2024
- Virtual Introduction to the Freedom of Information Act: November 6, 2024
- Virtual Litigation Seminar: November 13, 2024
- Virtual Procedural Requirements and Fees Training: December 4, 2024
- Virtual Exemption 1 and Exemption 7 Training: December 11, 2024
- Virtual Exemption 4 and Exemption 5 Training: January 15, 2025
- Virtual Privacy Considerations Training: January 22, 2025
- Virtual Administrative Appeals, FOIA Compliance, and Customer Service Training: January 29, 2025
- Virtual Advanced Freedom of Information Act Training: February 5, 2025
Training courses are open to all federal government employees. Course descriptions can be found on OIP's Training page. Registration links are available on the Key Dates page. OIP manages all registrations through WebEx. Participants must register individually using their government email address. Upon registration, a confirmation email will be sent from WebEx.
These sessions are restricted to government personnel and contractors only. Additionally, OIP offers tailored individualized training sessions upon request for any interested agency.
