Attorney General Josh Stein this week met with public school teachers and principals from across North Carolina to discuss the state of the public education system and ways to support students and educators.

“Our educators work tirelessly to prepare our kids with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed, and they do it without the pay or respect they deserve,” said Attorney General Josh Stein. “I’m so grateful to our teachers and principals, and I’ll do everything in my power to keep fighting for them and our youth.”

During the meeting, teachers and principals expressed their struggles in finding sufficient resources to help children navigate challenges and receive a strong education. Many educators are employing innovative techniques to encourage student focus and learning. However, several agreed that low teacher pay has made it difficult for many professionals to remain in the field.

Attorney General Stein is actively working on initiatives aimed at strengthening North Carolina’s public education system and protecting children. In the Leandro case, attorneys from the North Carolina Department of Justice are advocating for full funding of public schools to ensure every student receives a sound, basic education. Additionally, Stein serves on the Task Force for Safer Schools, which supports safe gun storage campaigns and mental health training programs within schools. He is also involved in legal actions against Meta and investigations into TikTok concerning their impact on youth mental health.
