OKLAHOMA CITY (July 29, 2024) – Attorney General Gentner Drummond has requested that the state Pardon and Parole Board deny clemency for Emmanuel Littlejohn, who was convicted of murdering Kenny Meers during a convenience store robbery in June 1992.

“Emmanuel Littlejohn is a violent and manipulative criminal who refuses to take responsibility for his actions,” Drummond stated. “The family of Kenny Meers has waited 32 long years for justice to be served. The death penalty is the appropriate punishment, and I urge the Pardon and Parole Board to ensure that justice is done.”

Meers was 31 years old at the time of his murder. He co-owned a southeast Oklahoma City convenience store with his brother and was a respected member of his community.

In the clemency packet produced by the Attorney General’s Office, criminal appeals attorneys noted that Littlejohn has shown selfishness, entitlement, and extremely violent behavior throughout his life. He has been incarcerated multiple times and possesses an extensive list of misconduct reports from the state Department of Corrections, including violent offenses.

Littlejohn's execution is scheduled for Sept. 26. The clemency hearing will take place on Aug. 7.
