Judge Gordon Hoberg passes away at age of ninety-four

Gordon Hoberg, 94, of Napoleon, ND, passed away on July 3, 2024, at SMP Health Ave Maria in Jamestown.

Born on September 13, 1929, in Burnstad, ND, Hoberg graduated from Bismarck High School and Jamestown College in 1956. He later earned his law degree from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1959. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was admitted to the North Dakota Bar in 1959 and practiced law in Wishek and Napoleon until 1983. Hoberg served as Logan County State's Attorney for two decades before being appointed District Judge on August 12, 1983. He was subsequently elected to the position in both 1984 and 1990 and retired as District Judge in 1991. In 1992, he was appointed as a Surrogate Judge.

Hoberg was involved with several organizations throughout his career including the Court Services Administration Committee, National Council of Juvenile & Family Court Judges, North Dakota Bar Association, Stutsman County Bar Association, Lions Club, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans group and the Jamestown College Alumni Board.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, August 4th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Napoleon at 2:00 PM. Burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery on Monday, August 5th at 9:00 AM.
