Applications are currently being accepted for service on the North Dakota Ethics Commission. Commissioners will serve a four-year term, commencing in September 2024. The deadline for application submission is August 9, 2024.

The mission of the North Dakota Ethics Commission is to enhance public confidence in the state government by ensuring and promoting transparency and accountability. Established in 2018 following the passage of an initiated measure that created Article XIV of the North Dakota Constitution, the commission plays a critical role in maintaining ethical standards within the state.

Eligibility criteria for serving on the commission exclude individuals who hold statewide elected or appointed public office, candidates for statewide public office, political party officials, lobbyists, employees of the legislative branch including Legislative Council, and appointed agency directors serving in one of the Governor’s cabinet agencies.

Interested individuals can apply through the “Boards” section of the Governor’s website at https://www.governor.nd.gov/boards/. Appointments will be made by consensus agreement among the Governor, Senate Majority Leader, and Senate Minority Leader.
