LOS ANGELES (Legal Newsline) - Kawasaki notified users of its Mule UTVs of a possible fire risk and now faces class action litigation.
Plaintiffs Bret Conway and Jennifer Rogers filed a class action lawsuit July 1 against Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. and Kawasaki Heavy Industries (USA), Inc. in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
The plaintiffs allege that Kawasaki's 2024 MULE PRO-FX™, PRO-FXR™, and PRO-FXT™ 1000 Utility Task Vehicles (UTVs) have a defective engine that poses a fire risk, rendering them unsafe and unusable.
Despite issuing a "Stop Use Notice" in April 2024, Kawasaki has yet to provide a repair or replacement solution, leaving owners without functional vehicles, the suit claims. The lawsuit seeks damages, equitable relief, and an injunction against Kawasaki's practices.
Laurence King of Kaplan Fox & Kilsheimer represents the plaintiffs.
