Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Andrew M. Sherwood has joined its New York City office as a principal. Andy was previously an attorney at Proskauer Rose LLP and brings with him almost 14 years of employment litigation experience.

“Andy’s strong focus on the financial services sector and extensive experience handling employment proceedings before FINRA uniquely qualify him to join our New York City team,” said Office Managing Principal Douglas J. Klein. “His track record managing high-profile litigation and defending employers in complex legal disputes will enhance our firm's capabilities in serving New York clients. We are thrilled to welcome Andy to the firm.”

Andy focuses his practice on representing employers in state and federal court, as well as in alternative dispute resolution settings, handling a wide range of complex employment cases including discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, defamation and breach of contract claims. His practice also includes a strong emphasis on the financial services sector, including employment arbitrations brought before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and advice regarding FINRA's employment-related rules, including those pertaining to Form U5s.

Before joining Proskauer, Andy gained valuable experience as an attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP and as a trial attorney at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). His tenure at the EEOC involved litigating anti-discrimination claims against private employers and overseeing administrative investigations.

"Andy’s extensive background in employment law, including his experience in navigating employment arbitrations before FINRA and his tenure as a trial attorney at the EEOC, positions him as an invaluable resource for our clients," said Litigation group Co-Leaders Stephanie L. Adler-Paindiris and Stephanie E. Satterfield. "His ability to handle high-stakes litigation and deliver proactive solutions will enhance Jackson Lewis’ standing as a premier provider of employment solutions."

Andy earned his J.D. from Pennsylvania State University’s Dickinson School of Law and his B.S. from Cornell University.

The firm’s expanding New York City office also recently welcomed prominent attorney Evan B. Citron as a principal, who joined from Ogletree Deakins.

The New York City office can be reached at (212) 545-4000.
