Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers announced victories against two recent mandates by the Biden Administration, which he described as harmful to Americans and the economy.
The United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi temporarily halted the Department of Health and Human Services from redefining discrimination "on the basis of sex" under the Affordable Care Act. The redefinition would have required healthcare providers to perform, and insurers to cover, experimental sex-change procedures. This rule was argued to undermine state laws regulating these treatments. Attorney General Hilgers joined a lawsuit led by Tennessee and Mississippi in May, alongside Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Virginia, and West Virginia.
In another case, Attorney General Hilgers secured a victory against an attempt by the Biden Administration to ban exports of liquefied natural gas. The United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana temporarily stopped the Department of Energy from indefinitely refusing applications to export liquefied natural gas. This decision was seen as potentially catastrophic for the domestic energy market. Nebraska joined a lawsuit led by Louisiana with participation from Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Mississippi, Montana, Oklahoma, South Carolina Texas Utah West Virginia and Wyoming
"As we celebrate our Nation’s independence this week I am grateful for the time-proven protections of the Constitution Congress makes the laws not President We will continue oppose unlawful mandates detached from well-being Nebraska its citizens," stated Attorney General Hilgers.
