Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach has initiated legal action against Pfizer, alleging the company made misleading claims regarding its COVID-19 vaccine. The announcement was made at a press conference in Topeka, where Kobach was joined by Deputy Attorney General Fran Oleen, Assistant Attorney General Kaley Schrader, and Assistant Attorney General Melanie Jack.
"Pfizer made multiple misleading statements to deceive the public about its vaccine at a time when Americans needed the truth," Kobach stated.
The complaint, filed in Thomas County District Court, accuses Pfizer of providing false information about the risks associated with its vaccines, particularly concerning pregnant women and myocarditis. Additionally, it asserts that Pfizer claimed its vaccine was effective against various COVID-19 variants despite data suggesting otherwise. The pharmaceutical company also purportedly suggested that its vaccine could prevent COVID transmission but later admitted it had not studied this aspect.
Furthermore, the lawsuit alleges that Pfizer coordinated with social media platforms to censor critical speech about COVID-19 vaccines and chose not to participate in Operation Warp Speed—the federal government's vaccine development program—to avoid government oversight.
The full complaint is available for public viewing.
