The Southeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court will hold its graduation and celebration on Monday, June 17, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. in the Saline County District Courtroom located at 204 South High Street, Wilber, NE. The event will be presided over by Judge Richard Smith.

This ceremony signifies the completion of an intensive program for problem-solving court graduates. The program includes comprehensive behavioral health treatment, intensive community supervision, and full accountability measures. Problem-solving courts provide an alternative route through the criminal justice system for nonviolent drug-related offenders by employing a specialized team process within the existing court structure.

The primary objectives of these courts are to reduce recidivism and substance use among individuals with substance use disorders. By utilizing validated risk and need assessments, early and individualized behavioral health treatment, frequent and random chemical testing, incentives, sanctions, and other rehabilitative services, the courts aim to protect public safety and enhance the likelihood of successful rehabilitation for participants.

For interviews or additional information about the event, interested parties are encouraged to contact Chris Reece, Adult Drug Court Coordinator, at 402-821-7114. More details can also be found on the Problem-Solving Court webpage: https://supremecourt.nebraska.gov/courts/problem-solving-courts. Media credentials are preferred for those attending.

The judicial power in Nebraska is distributed among various courts including the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, district courts, county courts as well as separate juvenile courts in Douglas, Lancaster, and Sarpy Counties and a statewide Workers’ Compensation Court. All state courts operate under the administrative direction of the Supreme Court.
