Hon. Michael G. Heavican Chief Justice | State of Nebraska Judicial Branch Website

The 5th Judicial District Problem-Solving Court will hold a graduation and celebration on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. The event will take place at the York County Courthouse located at 510 N. Lincoln Avenue, York, Nebraska.

Judge James C. Stecker will preside over the ceremony which marks the completion of an intensive program for problem-solving court graduates. These programs involve comprehensive behavioral health treatment, intensive community supervision, and full accountability.

Problem-solving courts provide an alternative route through the criminal justice system for nonviolent drug-related offenders by using a specialized team process within the existing court structure. The primary objectives are to reduce recidivism and substance use among individuals with substance use disorders while protecting public safety and enhancing the likelihood of successful rehabilitation.

The courts achieve these goals through validated risk and need assessments, early and individualized behavioral health treatment, frequent and random chemical testing, incentives, sanctions, and other rehabilitative services.

For further information or to arrange interviews, contact Morgan Campbell, Problem-Solving Court Coordinator at 402-362-6540. Media credentials are preferred for coverage of this Adult Drug Court graduation.
