LITTLE ROCK – Attorney General Tim Griffin announced today that Choices Women’s Medical Center in Queens, New York, has complied with a cease and desist demand by removing unlawful language from its website. The directive was issued to address the center's promotion of abortion pill services to Arkansans.
"On May 21, I sent a letter to Choices Women’s Medical Center of New York (Choices) instructing it to cease and desist from using its website to direct Arkansans to abortion pill services, specifically the website’s invitation for Arkansans to take the second round of abortion pills ‘at home’ after being administered the first round at a clinic outside of Arkansas," said Griffin.
Griffin confirmed that Choices has removed the problematic language from its website, thereby resolving this violation of the Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (ADTPA). "I have sent a letter notifying Choices that the organization has satisfactorily complied with my demand," he added.
Griffin emphasized his commitment to enforcing Arkansas law: "Organizations cannot provide goods and services directly to Arkansans for use within Arkansas in a manner that violates Arkansas law. I will continue to hold organizations accountable for violations of the ADTPA and ensure that Arkansas laws protecting innocent life are followed."
Attorney General Tim Griffin was sworn in as the 57th Attorney General of Arkansas on January 10, 2023. His previous roles include serving as Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas from 2015-2023 and as a representative for Arkansas’s Second Congressional District from 2011-2015. Griffin also holds an extensive military background as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General’s Corps, currently holding the rank of colonel.
Griffin's legal career includes positions such as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney among other significant roles within government institutions. He is admitted to practice law in both Arkansas and Louisiana.
