America First Legal continues probing the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office's partisan persecution of President Trump
June 3, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, as part of its ongoing investigation into alleged partisan weaponization of the criminal justice system, America First Legal (AFL) initiated a comprehensive new inquiry into the Manhattan District Attorney’s prosecution of former President Donald J. Trump. Responding to allegations of improper collusion between District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office, the Biden White House and Department of Justice (DOJ), and allied leftist dark money groups, AFL has filed three new New York State Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) demands.
AFL expects that these records will shed light on what it describes as the New York County District Attorney’s abusive and partisan prosecution of Trump, irregular conduct by the presiding judge, and relationships between prosecutors and outside groups. According to AFL, "The public has a right to know the identity of each and every person who has played a role in the show trial persecution of President Trump," alleging efforts to interfere in the 2024 Presidential Election.
Reed D. Rubinstein, Senior Vice President at America First Legal, stated: “The Stalinesque show trial of President Trump has deeply stained New York’s justice system. The great Justice Robert H. Jackson warned that the greatest danger of abuse of prosecuting power lies when law enforcement becomes personal, and the real crime becomes that of being attached to the wrong political views. So it is here. With this sham case, District Attorney Bragg, Judge Merchan, and every prosecutor associated with it have dishonored his or her oath and office. To protect our justice system, there must be accountability – and AFL will relentlessly work to expose the truth.”
