PORTLAND, Ore. (Legal Newsline) - A COVID vaccine worker had no business being behind the wheel, says a wrongful death lawsuit over the killing of a pedestrian.

The Estate of Amanda Marlene Palin, represented by Shannon Conley, filed a lawsuit May 15 in Oregon federal court against MPF Federal, LLC, Avis Rent A Car System, LLC, Avis Budget Group, Inc., and Kimberly Gabriel.

The case centers on the death of Amanda Marlene Palin, who was struck by a vehicle driven by Kimberly Gabriel while she was under the influence of intoxicants

The complaint alleges that MPF Federal negligently hired Gabriel to administer COVID vaccines despite her lack of a valid driver's license and poor driving record.

Furthermore, it accuses the Avis defendants of renting a car to Gabriel without verifying her credentials. The plaintiff seeks $20 million in noneconomic damages and over $5 million in economic damages.

Gabriel was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence of intoxicants and pleaded guilty. She was sentenced to two years of probation.

Thomas D'Amore represents the plaintiff.
