TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Legal Newsline) - A Florida woman who was shot at a Tallahassee convenience store is suing for her injuries, which include her being paralyzed from the waist down.

In an April 24 court filing in Leon County Circuit Court, Tikela Nicole Gillison has sued Trapican Way Convenience, LLC, Julius Long and Dave Ambrish for damages. The plaintiff alleges negligence on the part of the defendants leading to her assault and severe injury on August 16, 2023.

The complaint states that Gillison was shot and paralyzed from the waist down while at Trapican Way convenience store. The plaintiff accuses the defendants of failing to provide adequate security measures despite having knowledge of a history of criminal activity on their premises.

"Trapican Way... knew or in the exercise of reasonable care should have known that no individual... had it within their power to take the measures necessary to provide for their own security on the premises," the suit says.

The property in question is located at 1922 Lake Bradford Road, Tallahassee, FL 32310. It is owned by defendant Dave Ambrish and leased to Long.

Joseph Williams of Williams Moore Law Firm represents the plaintiff.
