WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Legal Newsline) - A Florida woman says bad advice from her lawyer resulted in her getting a lot less than what she was owed for her workplace-injury claim.

Debra Bentley filed a professional malpractice lawsuit April 25 in Palm Beach County Circuit Court against the law firm Franks, Koenig & Neuwelt, LLC and attorney Eli Franks.

The suit alleges that the defendants provided negligent legal representation following Bentley's workplace slip-and-fall incident on September 6, 2018.

Bentley claims to have sustained severe injuries resulting in pain, suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for enjoyment of life, hospitalization expenses, medical and nursing care costs, lost wages and future earning potential.

The plaintiff accuses the defendants of failing to conduct necessary investigations into her case and not properly preparing for it.

She also alleges that they failed to exclude personal injury claims from a resignation agreement she signed with her employer and did not advise her about the implications of signing such an agreement.

Anthony Goodman of Law Offices of Anidijar & Levine in Fort Lauderdale represents the plaintiff.
