CONWAY, Ark. (Legal Newsline) - The parents of a girl allegedly sexually assaulted at an Arkansas behavioral health facility has filed a lawsuit against it.

A lawsuit was filed April 25 in Faulkner County Circuit Court by parents of a minor child referred to as A.C. against Habilitation Center and Acadia Healthcare Company, Inc.

The family accuses the defendants of failing to provide a safe environment for their child at Little Creek Behavioral Health, a facility operated by both companies.

The complaint alleges that A.C. was admitted to Little Creek on July 26, 2021, due to ongoing behavioral issues. During her stay, she was allegedly harassed and touched inappropriately by another patient identified as M.H.

The incidents culminated in a sexual assault on May 4, 2022, the suit claims. The family claims that despite multiple incident reports involving A.C., the facility failed to take appropriate action or notify them about the assault.

The plaintiffs argue that both Habilitation Center and Acadia Healthcare were negligent in their duty of care towards A.C., creating an environment where inappropriate behavior was allowed to occur.

The plaintiffs are represented by Jered Medlock of Medlock & Gramlich.
