TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Attorney General Ashley Moody is seeking answers from the Biden administration regarding the release of illegal aliens in U.S. prisons directly into the interior, rather than deporting them back to their countries of origin. In a statement, Attorney General Moody expressed concern over the potential repercussions of this practice, stating, “The American people deserve to know.”

The Biden administration's approach to immigration enforcement has come under scrutiny, with reports indicating a significant decrease in the removal of criminal aliens compared to previous administrations. Attorney General Moody highlighted the concerning trend, citing a congressional report that revealed a nearly 60% decrease in the removal of criminal aliens with convictions and charges in fiscal year 2023 compared to FY2019.

In light of these developments, Attorney General Moody emphasized the importance of addressing the issue of crime committed by illegal aliens. She referenced the tragic murder of University of Georgia student Laken Riley and called for the passage of the Laken Riley Act, which would mandate the detention of illegal aliens charged with certain offenses.

The Biden administration's policies on deportation have faced legal challenges, with Attorney General Moody previously suing the administration over its anti-deportation measures for illegal immigrants committing crimes. The Attorney General continues to advocate for stricter measures to address the issue of criminal activity by illegal aliens.

As the investigation into the release of illegal aliens in U.S. prisons continues, Attorney General Moody's efforts to uncover the truth behind this practice remain ongoing.
