ORLANDO, Fla. (Legal Newsline) - Parents are suing a Florida children's hospital over a delay in treatment they say caused their newborn permanent injuries.

A lawsuit was filed Feb. 22 against The Nemours Foundation, also known as Nemours Children’s Hospital, by Marcus K. Johnson and Ana Johnson on behalf of their minor child, MarSire Johnson, in Orange County Circuit Court.

The plaintiffs accuse the hospital of medical negligence, alleging that their newborn son suffered an intravenous extravasation of total parenteral nutrition fluid while under the hospital's care. This incident allegedly led to permanent injury and disability for MarSire Johnson.

The complaint asserts that the Physician Assistant (PA) and Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NPP) who attended to MarSire on August 15, 2021, failed to administer appropriate medication promptly to reduce tissue damage following the extravasation.

This negligence is said to have resulted in physical, mental, and emotional harm to MarSire and emotional distress for his parents.

J. Nixon Daniel III of Beggs & Lane in Pensacola represents the plaintiffs.
