Attorney General Ashley Moody has announced that her Office of Statewide Prosecution is charging a drug dealer with manslaughter for peddling fentanyl along the Treasure Coast. The accused, Sean Lamont Bray, is alleged to have sold lethal amounts of fentanyl to a woman, resulting in her tragic overdose death.

In response to the investigation findings, Attorney General Moody stated, “This drug dealer knowingly sold lethal amounts of fentanyl to a woman that ultimately resulted in her death. Every drug trafficker should know, in Florida, if you traffic fentanyl and kill someone, you will be held accountable.”

Martin County Sheriff William Snyder highlighted the ongoing fentanyl crisis, stating, “The fentanyl crisis continues to plague our county much like it has throughout our country. As this crisis rages, so does our relentless efforts to stop it. This latest arrest is proof that we will not rest until every last bit of this deadly drug and those who push it, are off our streets.”

During questioning by authorities, Bray admitted to his involvement in selling crack cocaine and fentanyl, making approximately $500 a day from illicit drug sales. Evidence collected during the investigation revealed Bray's knowledge of the victim's fentanyl use and his role in supplying her with cocaine and fentanyl on the day of her overdose.

Bray is facing multiple charges, including manslaughter, sale of fentanyl, sale of cocaine, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. The Martin County Sheriff's Office led the investigation, with support from the Attorney General's Office of Statewide Prosecution.

In light of the devastating impact of illicit fentanyl, Attorney General Moody emphasized the importance of seeking help for substance abuse. She directed individuals to resources like the Dose of Reality Florida website, which provides information on addiction support and safe disposal of prescription drugs. Additionally, the Treatment Atlas, a free treatment-locater tool, was launched to assist Floridians in finding local treatment services for addiction.

The case against Bray serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of opioid misuse and the severe consequences of drug trafficking. Authorities continue their efforts to combat the spread of deadly drugs like fentanyl and hold accountable those who contribute to the crisis.
