Wrongful death lawsuit says Franklin County ignored inmate's suicide attempts

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Legal Newsline) - A wrongful death lawsuit against Franklin County, Ohio, blames it and mental health care providers for the suicide of an inmate.

A recent lawsuit in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas by Tiffany Cundiff attempts to seek compensation for Talent Bradley.

Bradley hanged himself on Dec. 27, 2021, while an inmate at the Franklin County Corrections Center. He had already tried suicide that August, two days after he was booked.

Suicide attempts continued while he complained of hallucinations of Lucifer commanding to harm himself and others.

"He was put on suicide watch, and taken off suicide watch, by various providers... without complete evaluation," the suit alleges.

Despite a noose being found in his cell on Dec. 24, 2021, he was taken off suicide watch the next day. Two days later, he hanged himself.

The suit says he was on four separate suicide watches during his incarceration.

The suit is against Franklin County, Ohio; Franklin County Sheriff’s Office; Franklin County Corrections Center; Naphcare, Inc.; Armor Correctional Health Services, Inc.; Armor Health of Ohio, LLC; and multiple individuals associated with these entities including Asha J. Kosgey, Wendy K. Shackleford, Susan L. Obrien, Kahlin A. Kelly, Ujwala Pagedar, Benjamin S. Latelle, Gabrielle M. Poliseno, Amy L. Garbrecht, Mikael White-Davis, Deanna R. Littick and several John Doe corporations and employees.

The defendants removed the case to federal court on Feb. 1. The plaintiff is represented by David Shroyer and Tyler Shroyer of Colley Shroyer & Abraham, as well as Jay Perez Law.
