Attorney General Jason Miyares has joined a coalition of 27 states in supporting Texas's efforts to defend its border. In a letter to the Biden Administration, the coalition expresses their concern over the unchecked invasion of undocumented migrants crossing the southern border, which poses a grave threat to national security and fuels the surge in drug and human trafficking.

The letter highlights the Biden Administration's actions, which the coalition argues have worsened the crisis instead of mitigating it. Border Patrol agents, acting on the administration's orders, have reportedly cut Texas's border defense wires over 20 times in just one month. In one shocking case, a forklift was even used to raise the wire and allow more than 300 undocumented migrants to enter.

Texas, along with other states, has taken decisive action to protect their citizens in the absence of effective federal intervention. A federal district court has recognized that Texas's border defense wires have reduced illegal border crossings by more than two-thirds, not only benefiting Texans but also the rest of the nation.

Attorney General Miyares emphasizes the urgency of the situation, stating, "The time for action is now. The Biden Administration must either fulfill its duty to enforce the laws that secure our southern border, or states like Texas will use their constitutional authority to address this invasion themselves and protect their citizens."

The coalition demands that the Biden Administration either takes immediate action to enforce border security laws or allows states like Texas to protect themselves from the invasion.

Virginia has joined this coalition, led by Iowa and Utah, along with 25 other states and the Arizona State Legislature. The full list of states includes Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, West Virginia, Wyoming.

The letter concludes by calling on the Biden Administration to act swiftly and effectively to secure the southern border, as failure to do so puts the safety and well-being of American citizens at risk.
