Attorney General Ashley Moody is urging Floridians to take action during National Human Trafficking Prevention Month to protect children from online predators and traffickers. With an estimated 27.6 million victims of human trafficking worldwide, Attorney General Moody is calling on more individuals to join the fight to end this heinous crime.

"We have enlisted thousands of Floridians in our fight to end human trafficking. If you have not joined this vital cause yet, there is no better time to get involved than National Human Trafficking Prevention Month," said Attorney General Moody.

To combat the issue, Attorney General Moody recommends several strategies for parents and guardians to safeguard children against online predators and traffickers. These include fostering open communication, educating children about online safety, monitoring online activity, and encouraging the reporting of suspicious encounters.

In 2022, Attorney General Moody released the Online Safety Toolkit, which equips parents with the knowledge they need to educate their children about the dangers of human traffickers online. The toolkit includes a list of apps commonly used by predators that parents need to be aware of.

Furthermore, Attorney General Moody has been actively engaged in building partnerships and creating initiatives to train individuals on the signs of trafficking and how to report it. Some of these initiatives include:

- The 100 Percent Club: Recognizing companies that train their employees on the signs of human trafficking and provide quick-reference guides for reporting. Over 8,600 employees have participated in the training so far.

- The Human Trafficking Summit: An annual event hosted by Attorney General Moody, bringing together leaders to discuss efforts to eradicate trafficking. Educational content from the 2023 summit is available online.

- Project Protect: Providing doorbell cameras to survivors of domestic violence, trafficking, stalking, and sexual violence in participating Florida counties.

- Truckers Against Trafficking: A partnership to train employees in the gaming and passenger transportation industries on how to avoid and report human trafficking. Over 8,500 truckers have completed the training.

Attorney General Moody's dedication to combating human trafficking is evident in her efforts to create awareness and provide resources to individuals and organizations. Recently, JAXPORT became the first public port to join the 100 Percent Club, adding nearly 180 trained employees to the fight against trafficking.

Attorney General Moody's Office of Statewide Prosecution has also been instrumental in prosecuting multijudicial circuit cases of human trafficking in Florida, boasting a nearly perfect conviction record.
