Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has successfully reached a settlement with CSC Holdings, LLC, the operating subsidiary of Altice USA, Inc., a major telecommunications company. The Assurance of Voluntary Compliance (AVC) aims to ensure that CSC Holdings provides the services it advertises to consumers in Texas.

CSC Holdings, LLC, which operates under the brand name "Optimum" in Texas, offers broadband, television, phone, and other services to consumers across the country, with over 100 service areas in Texas alone. However, over the years, Texas residents have reported numerous issues with the company, including suspect billing practices, slow internet speeds, frequent outages, poor customer service, and misleading promotions and sales practices.

In response to these complaints, Attorney General Ken Paxton's office engaged in negotiations with CSC Holdings. As a result, the company has agreed to pay $350,000 to the State of Texas and take steps to address the concerns raised by consumers. This includes improving its customer service and resolving hundreds of eligible consumer complaints filed between 2016 and ninety days after the settlement is finalized.

Consumers who have experienced issues with CSC Holdings can file a complaint through the Texas Attorney General's website. The restitution program established as part of the settlement aims to provide affected consumers with the services they were promised.

This settlement marks an important step towards holding telecommunications companies accountable for their actions and ensuring that consumers receive the services they pay for. Attorney General Ken Paxton expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, stating, "This settlement will provide much-needed relief to Texas consumers who have been affected by CSC Holdings' inadequate services. We will continue to take action against companies that fail to deliver on their promises."

Consumers who have been affected by CSC Holdings' practices can now find some respite, knowing that their complaints have been heard and addressed. The settlement serves as a reminder to all companies operating in Texas that they must fulfill their obligations to consumers and provide the services they advertise.
