LAS VEGAS (Legal Newsline) — A data breach has Caesars Entertainment in federal court facing a class action lawsuit.
Vanessa Williams, Rozalynn Fisher and others filed a complaint Nov. 20 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada against Caesars Entertainment Inc., alleging negligence and other claims.
According to their class action complaint, the plaintiffs are current and former Caesars Rewards members. They claim that their personally identifiable information was exposed in a September 2023 data breach due to Caesars; failure to properly secure and safeguard their information.
They allege the data breach effected Caesars' loyalty program database, which included driver's license numbers, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, passport numbers and geographical data of the more than 64 million members of the loyalty program. The plaintiffs further allege Caesars delayed disclosing the data breach notice to customers and failed to use reasonable security procedures to protect the sensitive, unencrypted information.
They claim that the theft of their personal information has resulted in the risk of identity theft and could have been prevented with secure hardware.
The plaintiffs seek monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Nathan Ring of Stranch, Jennings & Garvey PLLC in Las Vegas and Mark Reich and Courtney Maccarone of Levi & Korsinsky LLP in New York.
