BOSTON (Legal Newsline) – A Massachusetts woman says workers failed to cap a gas line after removing her gas appliances to replace them with electric ones, resulting in an explosion.

Melissa L. Pigue filed a complaint Oct. 19 in Suffolk County Superior Court against Marine Lumber Operator Inc., doing business as Marine Home Center, and Nantucket Energy LLC, alleging negligence and other claims.

According to Pigue's complaint, Marine Home sold a Frigidaire electric dryer and front load washer to the previous owner of her property in Nantucket. She claims that when it delivered the dryer and washer in September of 2012, it disconnected the dryer from a propane gas supply line.

Pigue further claims the defendant's employees failed to cap or otherwise safely secure the propane gas supply line that the dryer was connected to, which allowed propane gas to enter the home. She alleges that the defendant's actions caused an explosion in which she suffered severe injuries, including burns all over her body.

Pigue seeks monetary relief, interest, trail by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by John Manoog III and James Crowley, Jr. of The Law Offices of John C. Manoog III in Hyannis.
