Holland & Knight advised multiple clients in their application and selection for the Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs (H2Hubs) Program awards from the Department of Energy (DOE). The firm’s clients are parties to five of the seven awardees that were announced on October 13.

Last year, the DOE opened applications for a $7 billion program to create regional clean hydrogen hubs across the country, which the DOE says will form a critical arm of America’s future clean energy economy.

Seven regional clean hydrogen hubs were recently selected for negotiation across the country:

  • Mid-Atlantic Hydrogen Hub
  • Appalachian Hydrogen Hub
  • California Hydrogen Hub
  • Gulf Coast Hydrogen Hub
  • Heartland Hydrogen Hub
  • Midwest Hydrogen Hub
  • Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub
Holland & Knight played a role in in supporting Plug Power Inc., Mitsubishi Power, Chemours, Fortescue and Orsted in their selection as sub-recipients for the Hydrogen Hub Awards and in supporting Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub (PNWH2) in its selection as one of the regional clean hydrogen hubs. Those clients selected as sub-recipients are parties to five of the seven regional clean hydrogen hub awardees: Appalachian Hydrogen Hub, California Hydrogen Hub, Gulf Coast Hydrogen Hub, Midwest Hydrogen Hub and the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub.

“We want to congratulate our clients on being selected to be a part of this important program,” said Holland & Knight Partner Taite McDonald, who leads the firm’s Public Policy & Regulation Group’s Clean Technology team. “It is a privilege to support our clients in a project to help establish a strong clean energy economy in the U.S. that will strengthen the country’s energy security, create thousands of jobs and boost domestic manufacturing.”
