Bradley is pleased to announce that partner Bruce P. Ely has been appointed as a Senior Fellow and a special consultant to Bloomberg Tax & Accounting. Mr. Ely is the first Senior Fellow appointed by Bloomberg Tax & Accounting to consult on its state tax publications.
In this role, Mr. Ely will focus on Bloomberg Tax & Accounting’s pass-through entity products, including its premier research tool, the Pass-Through Entity Navigator (PTEN), a comprehensive online resource providing detailed analysis and practical guidance on a state-by-state basis for each type of pass-through entity and pass-through entity owner. Mr. Ely has served for more than 20 years as a member of Bloomberg’s State Tax Advisory Board and received its “State Tax Author of the Year” award for his leadership in developing and serving as co-lead editor of PTEN. In 2021, he was selected as the recipient of the Franklin C. Latcham Award for Distinguished Service to the State and Local Tax Profession on behalf of Bloomberg Tax and its State Tax Advisory Board.
Mr. Ely has more than 40 years of experience in federal, state and local tax matters and is among the most well-known and prolific state and local tax (SALT) attorneys in the U.S. He was the founding chair of Bradley’s SALT Practice team and is a frequent author and speaker on the tax aspects of pass-through entities at the national and state levels. Mr. Ely was involved in drafting Alabama’s original S corporation, LLC and LLP legislation, the American Bar Association’s Model LLC Act and Model S Corporation Income Tax Act, and the Multistate Tax Commission’s Model Uniform Statute for Reporting Federal Partnership Audit Adjustments.
