Greenberg Traurig Represents GTCR in its Acquisition of Foundation Source

Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP represented GTCR in connection with its acquisition of Foundation Source, the nation’s largest provider of foundation management services.

Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Fairfield, Connecticut, Foundation Source is the market leader for private foundation administrative solutions, according to GTCR. Foundation Source provides technology-enabled administrative, compliance, tax, and advisory solutions to private philanthropists, corporations, and their foundations, supporting more than 2,000 foundations, representing charitable assets exceeding $20 billion. In 2022, Foundation Source administered charitable grants totaling more than $1.3 billion on behalf of its clients.

Founded in 1980, GTCR is “a leading private equity firm that pioneered The Leaders Strategy™ – finding and partnering with management leaders in core domains to identify, acquire and build market-leading companies through organic growth and strategic acquisitions,” according to its website. GTCR focuses on investing growth in companies in the financial services, technology, business and consumer services, health care, and media and telecommunications sectors. Since its inception, GTCR has invested more than $25 billion in over 270 companies, and the firm currently manages over $35 billion in equity capital. GTCR is based in Chicago with offices in New York and West Palm Beach.
