NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) — The maker of the BlendJet2 blender is facing a class action lawsuit alleging its product has major defects including blades shattering and charging cables melting.

Luisset Figueroa and Jean Joseph, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint Sept. 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York against BlendJet Inc., alleging breach of express warranty and other claims.

According to the plaintiffs' class action, the defendant, who manufactures and sells the BlendJet2, is misrepresenting the "capabilities of the product" to consumers. They claim the product is made with substandard or inferior materials and that the blender breaks or stops working within a short period of time.

Specifically, the plaintiffs claim the blender's blades become disfigured, shatter or become completely detached, while its charging cables are prone to melting and the blender's battery overheats and sometimes catches fire.

They allege BlendJet takes advantage of consumers by falsely claiming the blender "powers through anything in 20 seconds flat." The plaintiffs claim the product is made through "shoddy" manufacturing and that if consumers had been aware of the false representations, they would not have purchased the product.

The plaintiffs and the class seek monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Adrian Gucovschi of Gucovschi Rozenshteyn PLLC in New York City.
