NEWARK, N.J. (Legal Newsline) — The family of a hotel guest in Dallas who was allegedly served an excessive amount of alcohol and died in his room from ethanol toxicity is claiming wrongful death.
The Estate of Donald M. Snyder by Administrator Ad Prosequendum Joan Snyder, filed a complaint May 26 in New Jersey state court against Arbor Lodging Management, Hyatt Place Dallas/Arlington and others alleging wrongful death and other claims. The defendants removed the case to federal court on July26.
According to the plaintiff's complaint, on Dec. 24, 2022, Donald Snyder was negligently served an excessive amount of intoxicating beverages while a guest at the Hyatt Place Dallas/Arlington. It claims that after being served drinks and becoming visibly intoxicated, Snyder was brought back to his hotel room despite being in need of medical attention.
The plaintiff further claims that Snyder suffered ethanol toxicity and was found two days later on Dec. 26, 2022, by housekeeping. The suit alleges the death of Snyder was due to the defendants' negligent acts and that the defendants failed to exercise reasonable care in the hiring, training and supervision of its employees.
The plaintiff claims that the defendants were also negligent for failing to perform a welfare check on Snyder despite being aware of his compromised state.
The plaintiff seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. It is represented by Ralph Cretella of Garces, Grabler & LeBrocq of New Brunswick, New Jersey.
