BOSTON (Legal Newsline) — A Massachusetts woman is claiming negligence due to suffering from salmonella after eating at a Mexican restaurant in Brighton.

Chloe Crelia filed a complaint May 22 in the Suffolk County Superior Court against Brighton Amigos Inc., doing business as Los Amigos Taqueria, alleging negligence, product liability and other claims.

Crelia claims in her lawsuit that she developed salmonella food poisoning after eating contaminated food products in May 2023 that were manufactured, prepared, distributed and sold by Los Amigos. She claims she suffered fever, diarrhea, body aches and severe abdominal pain that required medical treatment.

Crelia alleges that the defendant was negligent for failing to adequately maintain and monitor the sanitary conditions of its products, premises and equipment and failed to operate its facilities in a safe, clean and sanitary manner. She also alleges the defendant failed to follow food safety policies and procedures according to food industry standards and did not properly train its employees to prevent transmission of salmonella at its facility. Crelia claims the defendants were also negligent for failing to properly source its food ingredients.

Crelia seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Michael Joyce, Rafael Colmenares and Adam Holtan of The Law Offices of Michael P. Joyce PC in Boston and Jory Lange, Jr., of The Lange Law Firm in Houston.
