SAN FRANCISCO (Legal Newsline) — HP is facing a class action alleging its Omen line of laptops are defective.

Justin Davis and Gary Davis, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint May 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against HP Inc., doing business as HP Computing and Printing Inc., alleging breach of express warranty and other claims.

The plaintiffs allege in their class action that HP's premium Omen line of laptops produced between 2021 and 2022 have defective trackpads and are rendered unusable unless an external mouse is connected to the computer. Specifically, the plaintiffs claim the laptops' onscreen cursor moves in the opposite direction to the user's input, freezes or fails to register user input and randomly opens and closes windows and programs.

They further claim HP has failed to recall the Omen laptops, amend warranties or reimburse customers for the cost of repair or replacement. The plaintiffs also claim consumers attempting to get tech support from HP must go through a series of unsuccessful  tasks to reinstall operating systems and other troubleshooting solutions.

The plaintiffs and the class seek monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by lawyers around the country at Milberg Coleman Bryson Phillips Grossman.
