SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Legal Newsline) — Simplisafe is facing a class action over its automatic renewal of subscriptions allegedly without customers' consent.

Gregory Krikorian, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated filed a complaint March 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against Simplisafe Inc., alleging violation of California's Consumers Legal Remedies Act, fraud and other claims.

Krikorian, according to his class action, signed up for a free trial to Simplisafe's Interactive Monitoring Plan in March of 2022. He claims Simplisafe automatically renewed his subscription in May of 2022, and charged his payment method $27.99 seven times.

He further claims he did not consent to the charges and that he was not given notice that the recurring amount would be charged to his payment method. Krikorian alleges Simplisafe failed to provide the required disclosures and authorizations required by California law for the automatic renewals.

He also alleges Simplisafe makes it difficult and confusing for consumers to cancel their subscriptions.

Krikorian and the class are represented by Neal Deckant and Julia Venditti of Bursor & Fisher PA in Walnut Creek, California, and Frederick Klorcyzyk III, of Bursor & Fisher PA in New York City.
