BENTONVILLE, Ark. (Legal Newsline) — A woman alleges her mother and other residents suffered neglect at an Arkansas nursing home.

Rachel Z. Sanford, as special administratrix of the Estate of Jettith C. Johnson, deceased filed a complaint Feb. 8 in Benton County Circuit Court against Jamestown Nursing and Rehab LLC alleging medical malpractice, negligence and other claims.

Sanford alleges in her complaint that her mother was a resident of Jamestown Nursing and Rehab from August 2020 through April of 2021. She claims that because of the defendant's failure to have sufficient staff with skills to meet basic patient needs, her mother suffered a fall, fracture and required surgery before her death on August 13, 2022.

Sanford claims Jamestown failed to have regular toileting, incontinence care, hygiene care and left residents in soiled undergarments, clothes and beds for long periods of time. She also claims Jamestown failed to timely respond to residents' calls for assistance, failed to wash, groom and bathe the residents or assist them with meals. Sanford further claims Jamestown residents suffered dehydration, pressure sores, infections and loss of mobility due to lack of proper staffing and care and in violation of state and federal laws.

Sanford seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Don Elliott, Jr., of Elliott & Smith PA in Fayetteville and Thomas Buchanan of The Law Office of Thomas G. Buchanan in Little Rock.
