BOSTON (Legal Newsline) — A Boston hospital is facing a wrongful death claim after a patient was given medications that allegedly led to her cardiac arrest and bleeding.

Song Lin, personal representative of the Estate of Juanquing Zheng, filed a complaint Jan. 19 in Suffolk County Superior Court against Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Inc., alleging wrongful death and other claims.

According to Lin's complaint, Zheng was admitted to Beth Israel on Sept. 30, 2019, while suffering from an eye rash, swelling and pain. She alleges Zheng was given the drugs Valtrex and valacyclovir for shingles and developed side effects. Lin further alleges Zheng was readmitted to Beth Israel on Oct. 6, 2019, with dark brown material coming out of her mouth and required CPR.

Lin claims the negligent medical care Zheng received from Beth Israel caused her to develop severe medical complications including cardiac arrest, a hematoma and multi-organ failure that resulted in her death. She alleges Zheng's next of kin have suffered from her loss and have incurred medical, funeral and burial costs related to her death as a result of the defendant's negligence.

Lin seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Kegan Moody of Blumsack adn Canzano PC in Boston, Massachusetts.
