BOSTON — A Massachusetts bakery and its employee driver who allegedly caused a fatal accident in Cambridge are facing a wrongful death claim.

Mary Ann Poinelli, personal representative of the Estate of Carolyn A. Poinelli, filed a complaint Jan. 18 in Suffolk County Superior Court against Eddy's Bakery Products Inc., and Jose Pineda alleging wrongful death and other claims.

According to the plaintiff's complaint, Eddy's Bakery, through its employee Pineda, negligently operated a motor vehicle which struck Carolyn Poinelli on the Monsignor O'Brien Highway in Cambridge on Feb. 22, 2022. The plaintiff alleges Carolyn Poinelli suffered multiple and severe injuries that resulted in death on March 10, 2022.

She further alleges that Carolyn Poinelli suffered "great pain of body and anguish of mind" until her death and that the defendants are liable for Poinelli's medical, hospital, funeral and burial expenses.

Poinelli seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Chester Tennyson, Jr., and Richard Tennyson of The Tennyson Law Firm in Rockland.
