Bradley is pleased to announce that Stanley E. Blackmon has been named the 2023 president of the Birmingham Bar Association’s (BBA) Young Lawyers Section. Additionally, Carmen Weite has been appointed vice president of public service, and Riley McDaniel has been appointed as a member of the Executive Committee. All three attorneys will serve one-year terms in their new leadership roles.
The BBA’s Young Lawyers Section is for members who are 36 years old or younger or those in practice for five years or less. The section regularly hosts CLEs, fundraisers and other events that benefit the younger members of the legal profession.

Mr. Blackmon concentrates his practice on high-stakes and appellate litigation throughout the federal and state court systems, with a focus on legal strategy, motion practice and appeals. He has litigated a variety of cases and also has an active pro bono practice. He is an active member of the Birmingham Bar Association, previously serving as president elect of the Young Lawyers Section and was selected to the Alabama State Bar’s Leadership Forum in 2022. Mr. Blackmon is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law and received his undergraduate degree from Mississippi State University.
Ms. Weite litigates a variety of civil and commercial disputes including business torts, breach of contract, employment-related matters, environmental law, insurance coverage and product liability. She has previously served as a member of the BBA’s Young Lawyers Section Executive Committee, is an active member of the DRI, and was appointed to leadership roles with the DRI’s Young Lawyers Committee in 2022. Ms. Weite received her J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University and received her B.S. from the University of Florida.
Mr. McDaniel focuses his practice on high-stakes and appellate litigation and has experience at all stages of litigation. He has litigated a broad range of commercial, pharmaceutical, product liability and healthcare matters. Mr. McDaniel regularly assists clients with legal strategy, motion practice and appeals and also maintains an active pro bono practice. He is a member of the Alabama State and Birmingham Bar Associations, as well as the Defense Research Institute, and serves as a Junior Board Member for One Roof. Mr. McDaniel earned his J.D. from Emory University School of Law and received his B.A. from Auburn University.
