DEL RIO, Texas (Legal Newsline) — The gun dealer who sold weapons and ammunition to the Robb Elementary School shooter in Uvalde, Texas, is facing a negligence lawsuit from parents, as are other entities.

Corina Camachio, individually and on behalf of G.M., a minor, and others filed a complaint Sept. 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas against The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District, the City of Uvalde, Motorola Solutions Inc., Daniel Defense LLC, Oasis Outback and others alleging negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress and other claims.

The plaintiffs allege in their complaint that the conduct of the defendants, who include the school police and gun makers, led to one of the worst school massacres in U.S. history on May 24 at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde County, Texas. They further allege the defendants' actions led to the deaths of 19 children and two teachers and injuries and trauma to countless others.

The plaintiffs claim that Oasis Outback, which sold shooter Salvador Ramos weapons and ammunition, should have known he was suspicious when he bought $3,000 worth of guns, high-capacity magazines and a Hellfire trigger system, and that the shooter had a history of mental disturbance.

They also allege Daniel Defense is aware that its assault weapons "land in the hands of mass shooters" and ignores the number of killings caused by its weapons yet continue to market weapons to young adults.  They further allege the Uvalde School District failed to follow the state's active shooter mandates as well as its own polices for school shootings.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Stephanie Sherman and Monique Alarcon of Baum, Hedlund, Aristel, & Goldman PC in Los Angeles and Shawn Brown of The Law Office of Shawn C. Brown in San Antonio.
