Troutman Pepper Virginia-based attorneys Anne Loomis and Christopher Carlson have been recognized by Virginia Lawyers Weekly, earning spots on the publication’s 2022 “Leaders in the Law” and “Up & Coming Lawyers” lists, respectively.

Named to “Leaders in the Law” Class of 2022, Loomis was recognized among attorneys across the commonwealth who are “setting the standard for other Virginia lawyers.” Honorees were selected based on their significant achievements through the practice of law and their important contributions to Virginia’s legal community.

As a tax attorney and CPA with years of experience in the energy industry, Loomis focuses her practice on federal, state, and local tax planning with an emphasis on the unique tax issues facing rate-regulated public utilities and other energy industry clients. Her in-house experience with a Fortune 500 energy company, understanding of clients’ tax accounting considerations, and face-to-face experience with the IRS make her an invaluable member of Troutman Pepper’s Tax Practice and her community. Through her pro bono work, Loomis has played a critical role in setting up two local non-profits by helping them achieve 501(c)(3) status.

Carlson was honored among lawyers predicted to be the profession’s future leaders. The annual “Up & Coming Lawyers” list recognizes lawyers in their first 10 years of practice who are making a name for themselves and displaying determination.

As a key member of the firm’s Regulatory Investigations, Strategy + Enforcement (RISE) Practice Group and one of the nation’s oldest and most well-respected State Attorneys General practices, Carlson develops strategies and manages significant, complex state attorneys general investigations and litigations in Virginia and throughout the country. A go-to advisor to clients, Carlson leverages his prior experience in the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office to drive cases forward, developing and implementing strategies to defend clients, resolve investigations and litigation, and ensure future compliance.

Last year, Carlson was recognized by the American Bar Association and received the Jefferson B. Fordham Up & Comers award presented to a young practitioner who, through their efforts and accomplishments, shows great promise to continue these contributions for future achievements.

Loomis and Carlson will be recognized at an awards ceremony on October 25. Honorees also will be profiled in a special supplement to the October edition of Virginia Lawyers Weekly.
