Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to announce that Christopher Thomas has rejoined Ogletree Deakins’ Denver office as a shareholder after taking a three-year leave from his legal practice to complete missionary work with his family in Mexico City.
Thomas returns to his business immigration law practice. Prior to his departure, he practiced in this arena at Ogletree Deakins for nearly a decade and was a founding shareholder of the firm’s immigration practice in the western United States.
“Ceri Koski, John Combs, and Ann Lee, along with the rest of the Denver immigration team, have been instrumental in the continued growth and success of the firm’s business immigration footprint in Colorado and beyond,” said Thomas. “I am thrilled to be rejoining my talented colleagues at Ogletree Deakins and to jump back into my practice.”
Thomas has extensive experience advising and representing employers on the full spectrum of business immigration law, including the preparation of employment-based nonimmigrant petitions, labor certification (PERM) applications, immigrant petitions, and the adjustment of status and consular processing applications. He counsels clients on all aspects of immigration-related investigations, including I-9 audits, public access file reviews, Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) evaluations, and onsite inspections. He also prepares employers for such situations by helping them establish compliance programs.
“Chris is an adept and passionate practitioner who was an integral member of our immigration practice for many years,” said Jacky Maroney, co-chair of Ogletree Deakins’ Immigration Practice Group. “We look forward to welcoming Chris back to the firm.”
Thomas is a well-decorated lawyer who has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® and Acritas. Thomas earned his J.D., cum laude, from Tulane Law School and his B.A., cum laude, from Brigham Young University.
