Back to Nature crackers | From the complaint

NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) - Customers expecting healthier crackers from Back to Nature Foods Company are being misled, a new class action says.

Plaintiff Gracemarie Venticinque filed suit Sept. 1 in New York federal court against the company over its Stoneground Wheat Crackers. She claims instead of whole wheat flour, the company uses unbleached enriched wheat flour.

She says she bought the crackers after seeing the "Organic Whole Wheat Flour" representation on the front of the package. A look at the ingredients shows the whole wheat flour is not the first flour listed, the suit says.

"Plaintiff and other Class Members have been injured inasmuch as they, having viewed the Product label, paid a premium for the Product which, contrary to Defendant’s representation, was misleading and deceptive," the suit says.

"Accordingly, Plaintiff and other Class Members paid more than what the Product the bargained and received was worth."

Reese LLP and Quat Law Offices are the firms handling the case.
