CHICAGO (Legal Newsline) - Chicago lawyers have found another company to target over functions on websites that allow shoppers to virtually try on products.

Attorneys at DiCello Levitt sued Christian Dior on Aug. 30, alleging the company is violating the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, which prohibits collection of biometric identifiers like eye scans, fingerprints and voiceprints without consent.

Dior's website, with technology from FittingBox, lets visitors see what their face would look like in a pair of the company's sunglasses.

"During the virtual try-on process, Dior and FittingBox both have full access to, and so are in possession of users' biometric information and biometric identifiers, including users' face geometry," the suit says.

The suit comes about a month after another firm sued L'Oreal over a try-on tool that shows shoppers what they'd look like with its makeup.
